JANE NORMAN
photography
Jane Norman, BA (Hons), MA, is a photojournalist who has worked in the Far East and the UK, after studying photography at West Surrey College of Art & Design, Farnham.
Based in Dorset, her forte is photographing people of all ages, people and their pets, whether they are cats, dogs, hamsters or Show Champion at the Gillingham & Shaftesbury Show - capturing the everyday, to life's celebrations. Her images have been described as 'emotive, enlightening and fun'.
People may recognise her work from Blackmore Vale Magazine, and its sister publication, Stour & Avon Magazine where she was photographer for more than ten years, photographing everything from 106th birthdays to Royal visits to county events - whatever the weather. Sadly, the publications folded in 2020 due to Covid.
Some of her recent work includes projects with The Society of Dorset Men, Dorchester Community Church Food Share project, the West Dorset Vintage Tractor & Stationary Engine Club, and Art in Poundbury - photographing artists, behind the scenes at their exhibitions, and creating the group's posters and exhibition catalogue.
Their most recent event was a large en plein air event, Art in the Park - The Great Poundbury Paint Out, with more than 80 artists, aged 19 - 99, with Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2023, one of the guest judges. (See pictures under the Events tab.)
Thank you to her 'old' editor at the Blackmore Vale Magazine for allowing to showcase some of her work.
